The Velodrome went quiet on Sunday night. Half an hour into the Clasico, Igor Paixao was down, holding his right knee, and soon he was walking off. Marseille went on to lose 2-1 to PSG. For a club already buried in bad news, losing their Brazilian winger looked like one blow too many.
Turns out it wasn’t that bad.
On Tuesday the former Feyenoord man went to Instagram to settle nerves: “Better days are coming! Thanks for all the kind messages, I’m fine. I’m not injured!” He is expected to be available once the international break is over.

Five defeats and counting
Why the collective sigh of relief? Look at the table. OM have lost five in a row across all competitions and sit second from bottom in Ligue 1, a week after being taken apart 4-1 by Besiktas in the Europa League.
Bruno Genesio is feeling the heat. His attack is thin, and Paixao is one of the very few players capable of making something out of nothing. A few weeks without him would have turned an ugly run into something much worse.
A well-timed pause
The international window gives him room to shake off Sunday’s knock. The medical staff will still be watching that knee closely when the squad reports back.
