The news came Tuesday
A tear. Four weeks. Matthieu Jalibert announced it himself, on social media, no frills. “Small setback, following a quad tear. Four weeks out (…) I’ll be back, like always,” the Bordeaux-Begles fly-half wrote.
The injury happened Sunday, against Stade Francais. He was forced off in the 13th minute after accelerating for the ball. Ice on the thigh, crutches to leave the pitch. The kind of image that doesn’t lie.

The same thigh, again
That right thigh has given him trouble before. Recurring issues, never fully resolved. Reports Monday suggested a longer layoff, six to eight weeks. Jalibert cut that short with his own four-week timeline.
For Bordeaux-Begles, the reigning back-to-back European champions, the timing hurts. Losing a starting fly-half mid-Top 14 season is never convenient.

France have room to spare
Better news for Fabien Galthie. France’s next gathering doesn’t start until November 7, against Fiji. Plenty of time for a quad to heal.
Jalibert played all three July Tests, then started Bordeaux’s first three Top 14 rounds without missing a beat. His body finally forced a break.
