The number that matters is 1,034. That is where Kelsey Mitchell’s season sits after 33 points in Indiana’s 103-85 win at Toronto on Friday night, and no player has ever scored more in a single WNBA season.
A’ja Wilson held the mark at 1,021, set in 2024. Mitchell passed it with 7:57 left in the third quarter, a 24-foot three off a Caitlin Clark pass.

The run behind the record
Marks like this are built on refusing to have an off night. Mitchell cleared 20 points for the 25th game in a row, extending a WNBA record she already owned. Twenty-five straight games is most of a season spent at a level the league had never sustained before her.
Volume explains part of it. The WNBA calendar has grown, and Wilson’s 1,021 came across a shorter schedule, which is worth holding in mind before the comparison gets treated as settled. Mitchell still had to score every one of those points, and she did it in a backcourt where she is far from the only option.
Clark finished with 28 points and 14 assists in her return from the World Cup break. Two guards combining for 61 is not how Indiana used to win games.
Toronto keep sliding
The Tempo have now lost five in a row. Laura Juskaite scored 22 and Kiki Rice added 18, respectable numbers that came nowhere near enough against a Fever side chasing playoff position.
Indiana were not flawless either. The win was ragged in stretches, which will bother a team with seeding still to sort out over the closing weeks. The record goes in the book regardless.
