Booed off by the third quarter
Eleven first downs. That was Tennessee’s afternoon against the Jets, a 23-10 home defeat in Robert Saleh’s first game in charge that only looked worse the longer you stared at the box score. The Titans were outgained 367-195. Their lone touchdown arrived after the thing had already slipped away. The boos had started well before that.
Cam Ward went 19 of 32 for 140 yards and a score. He spent most of the afternoon running for his life. The blocking in front of him never settled.
Tackle Dan Moore Jr. did not dress it up. “We have to come out swinging. There has to be a sense of urgency to go and get this win. It felt like we got bullied last week, and we need to keep that bad taste in our mouths to change it.”

Philadelphia won, and still has plenty to fix
The Eagles arrive 1-0. The film says less flattering things. Washington got within two points and had a conversion to tie it with 1:05 on the clock, and Philadelphia stuffed it. That was the margin, 24-22. Jalen Hurts threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles edged the yardage battle 318-295, but on only 10 first downs, and Hurts went down three times.
Sean Mannion, in his first year calling plays, was not interested in the alarm bells. “There is always a bit of uncertainty in Week 1, especially with a new coordinator. Overall, I think we built something decent on Sunday.”
Drew Kendall, meet Jeffery Simmons
One matchup decides a lot of this. Landon Dickerson is on injured reserve, so left guard falls to Drew Kendall, a second-year lineman with barely any snaps to his name. Across from him sits Jeffery Simmons, the best player Tennessee has, and the kind of interior rusher who can shred a protection plan by himself.
The Eagles have their own bodies to count. Cooper DeJean sat out Wednesday with calf and abdomen trouble. Jalen Carter missed the session with a wrist issue. Jonathan Greenard, sidelined in Week 1 by a pectoral injury, was back in limited work.
Tennessee got Cedric Gray onto the practice field after his concussion, and the linebacker could go Sunday. James Williams Sr. was limited with an elbow problem.
Philadelphia leads the series 8-5.
