Laporta puts Camp Nou on the table
Joan Laporta wants the 2030 World Cup final in Barcelona. He said as much, bluntly, on Cadena SER.
“The final should not be in Casablanca or Madrid, it should be at Spotify Camp Nou,” the Barcelona president said. Then he added, with a grin: “Casablanca and Madrid are the same thing,” a cheeky nod to the White House and Real Madrid’s nickname.
Spain, Portugal and Morocco will stage the tournament together. Three countries, a long list of stadiums in the running, and just one final to hand out.

100,000 seats, and a number Laporta keeps repeating
Laporta has a figure in his pocket. The revamped Camp Nou will hold more than 100,000 fans, which would make it one of the biggest venues in the mix.
The Catalan chief says the final should be played in Spain, while still showing respect for Morocco’s bid. He also points to a precedent: the Santiago Bernabeu hosted the 1982 World Cup final. Barcelona’s turn, in his view, has come.
The club will now push its case officially with the relevant bodies.
A stadium already winning finals
This is not coming out of nowhere. UEFA has already picked Camp Nou for the 2029 Champions League final, ahead of Wembley.
That said, the call for 2030 will belong to FIFA. The balance between the three host nations will probably matter just as much as a stadium’s size, and Casablanca and Madrid have their own claims to make.
