461 feet, and nobody at Busch has hit one farther this year
Andre Pallante threw it in the first inning. Bryce Eldridge hit it over the right-field bullpen and kept it in the air long enough that the whole park knew. Statcast put it at 461 feet, the longest ball hit at Busch Stadium all season and the longest of Eldridge’s career.
He watched it go before he ran. Fair enough. One year to the day earlier, he had made his major league debut at 20 years old.
San Francisco won 10-3 on Tuesday night. The two-run shot was Eldridge’s 17th of the year and it opened the whole thing up.

The Giants are 63-89 and it does not matter tonight
San Francisco’s season ended in the standings weeks ago. Eldridge is still hitting .272 across 443 plate appearances, and he added a double after the homer.
“My growth as a player has been all mental,” he said. “I’ve grown a lot as a person this year, and I put my development as a player down to that.”
Two more rookies contributed. Blade Tidwell went six and two-thirds and allowed two runs for his first win of the season. Turner Hill hit his first big league homer and turned in three good plays in left. Eldridge, listed at 6-foot-7, closed the game at first base by picking a high hop out of the air.
Burleson is doing something the Cardinals have not seen since Musial
St. Louis (75-77) did not go quietly. Alec Burleson hit his 23rd homer, which is not the number that matters. He is now at 111 RBIs, the most in the majors this season.
That ties Jim Edmonds in 2004 for the most by a left-handed Cardinals hitter since Stan Musial drove in 126 in 1954. Burleson has 11 hits over his past nine games, two of them homers, with seven walks and nine RBIs.
“He’s put himself in that spot by continuing to work, adjusting his preparation so he can keep producing late in the season,” said manager Oliver Marmol.
They finish the series Wednesday afternoon. Anthony Molina (3-1, 5.24) starts for San Francisco. Matthew Liberatore (5-14, 5.53) goes for St. Louis, facing the Giants for the first time since 2023.
