One name doing the rounds before Wednesday’s list
Herve Renard names his first Ivory Coast squad on Wednesday, with the announcement due in the early afternoon.
Foot Mercato reports that Charles-Andre Raux-Yao sits among the players the staff have been watching closely. The outlet is careful with its wording. A lead, not a decision.
Raux-Yao is 24 and plays his football in Turkey with Eyupspor, where a strong opening to the season has put him on a few more radars than last year.

Versailles, Stade Briochin, then Turkey
He did not come up through anyone’s academy showcase. Versailles first, then Stade Briochin, then a move to Turkey last January.
Two goals in that first half-season were enough to give him a foothold. He is a fixture in the side now, and his influence has grown month by month.
Against Gaziantep and again against Rizespor, he was central to two opposition red cards. Nothing about that lands in a stat sheet. Scouts pick up on it anyway.
His own position has not been ambiguous. He told Foot Mercato he wants the Elephants shirt.
September or November
Only the timing is genuinely open. Renard can hand him a first call-up during this break, or let him run for a few more weeks and revisit it in November.
Wednesday’s list answers that question one way or the other.
