Detmers keeps rolling in Anaheim
Ninety-five pitches, sixty-six of them strikes, eight strikeouts. Reid Detmers gave the Angels exactly what they needed overnight, and Los Angeles snapped a three-game skid with a 6-4 win over the Seattle Mariners.
Detmers worked six innings, allowed three runs on seven hits and walked one. That is his seventh consecutive quality start, a run that has quietly become the most dependable thing about a 57-93 team. He left the mound one strikeout short of 200 for the season and moved to 6-8.
Ben Joyce handled the ninth. He walked pinch hitters Lazaro Montes and Taylor Ward to put the tying run aboard, then got J.P. Crawford to line out to first. It was his fifth save of the year, and nobody in the Angels bullpen has more.

Siri and Neto do the damage early
Los Angeles led 2-0 before Seattle had a chance to settle. Mike Trout singled with one out in the first and scored on Jose Siri’s double into the left-field corner. Siri stole third. Vaughn Grissom lifted a sacrifice fly.
The third inning stretched it to 4-0. Zach Neto tripled into the same corner to bring home Wade Meckler, then Siri singled him in one out later. Siri finished 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Neto tripled, singled, crossed the plate twice and drove in a run.
Denzer Guzman added the cushion in the fifth, a two-run single with the bases loaded off reliever Cooper Criswell that made it 6-3. Rookie Kade Anderson took the loss for Seattle after giving up five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings, striking out five without issuing a walk.
Seattle loses its last guarantee
Cal Raleigh cut into the deficit in the fourth with his 22nd home run, a three-run drive to right that scored Randy Arozarena and Dominic Canzone. Crawford homered in the seventh, a 393-foot shot to right for his 12th of the year. Arozarena collected a double and a single.
None of it was enough. Seattle fell to 70-81, a record that now mathematically rules out a winning season, and the Mariners have dropped three of their last four. Two more games in Anaheim wait before they move on.
