Lottie Woad seals the European win
Europe took back the Solheim Cup on Sunday at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. The decisive point came at the 16th hole, where Lottie Woad beat American Auston Kim 2 and 1. The European team reached the 14.5 points needed with four matches still out on the course.
Woad had not won a thing all week. Zero wins from four matches before the singles. She led by four after 11, then watched her advantage shrink to one. Kim cracked when it mattered. Woad made her putt and closed it out.
By then, Europe had already won six of the first eight singles. The whole thing had turned on its head in a morning.

A rainy morning that changed everything
On Saturday night, the United States had clawed it back to 8-8. Jennifer Kupcho rolled in two long putts to level it. The American team went back to the hotel celebrating.
On Sunday morning, in the rain and the cold, Charley Hull got Europe moving. A 3 and 2 win over Megan Khang put Europe 9-8 ahead. Linn Grant followed by beating Angel Yin 4 and 3. Yin had played only twice all week after a stomach issue ruled her out for much of the summer.
The United States had their moment. Alison Lee produced the biggest comeback in Solheim Cup singles history. Four down after 11 against Esther Henseleit, she played her final seven holes in four under and won 1 up. Nelly Korda then beat rookie Mimi Rhodes 4 and 2. Back to 10-10.
The European rookies made the difference
Nastasia Nadaud, 21, the youngest player on either side and a captain’s pick, beat Andrea Lee 3 and 2. Nanna Koerstz Madsen overpowered Allisen Corpuz 2 and 1. Julia Lopez Ramirez, another wildcard, beat Yealimi Noh 3 and 2. Europe were 13-10 up and needed only a point and a half.
Carlota Ciganda delivered the missing half-point against Kupcho before Woad finished the job. It is the third time in the last four editions that Europe have won or kept the trophy. The Americans have not won away from home since 2015. For Anna Nordqvist, the European captain who announced her retirement two weeks ago, it was a classy exit.
