Three touches, three touchdowns
Charlie Becker touched the ball three times against Howard this afternoon. He scored three times. Then he sat down and watched the rest of it from the sideline, his season total up to five touchdowns after two games.
Indiana won 55-0 in Bloomington. Josh Hoover went 6 of 11 for 146 yards and four touchdowns before he also came off at half-time. Three completions in the opening quarter, all three of them scores.

Cignetti was not entirely pleased
The first of those went 34 yards and required Becker to slow down, wrestle a cornerback for the ball and juggle it on his back before holding on. Hoover had underthrown it badly. Curt Cignetti met him on the sideline with some pointed coaching.
“I think we took a step, but it was far from perfect,” the Indiana coach said afterwards.
The second Becker score came from six yards on third down, after Lee Beebe Jr. and Turbo Richard had spent eight straight carries walking the ball 80 yards downfield. Shazz Preston then slipped behind a confused secondary for 39 yards with 1:34 left in the quarter. Becker’s third, a 41-yard catch-and-run across the middle, made it 27-0 early in the second.
Fifty-seven yards, all afternoon
Howard finished with 57 yards of total offence. Indiana had 510. The Bison did not run a single play inside Indiana territory until they recovered a muffed punt with 1:49 left in the third quarter, by which point the outcome had been settled for roughly two hours.
Ja’Shawn Scroggins completed 8 of 15 for 43 yards and threw an interception before Isaiah Freeman replaced him. That pick came off the hands of Josh Burnham, the Notre Dame transfer who hit Scroggins mid-throw, and Rolijah Hardy carried the fluttering ball 19 yards to the end zone untouched.
Beebe Jr. ran for 117 yards and Richard for 108, both first hundred-yard games in Indiana colours. Backup quarterback Grant Wilson threw two more touchdowns after the break.
Indiana are 2-0. Howard, playing Indiana for the first time in either programme’s history, drop to 1-2.
