Ligue 1: Bodart set for Le Havre move as Mpasi injury bites

Le Havre are scrambling for a goalkeeper

HAC had a problem that needed fixing fast. Lionel Mpasi ruptured his Achilles against Brest in his side’s 1-2 defeat. It’s a long-term blow, and it leaves the Normandy club without their first-choice keeper for a big chunk of the season.

According to L’Equipe, the answer is Arnaud Bodart. Le Havre are said to be finalising the arrival of the 28-year-old Belgian as a joker signing. The goalkeeper is due to have his medical over the weekend before signing on the dotted line with HAC.

A pecking order that had become impossible at Lille

On the Lille side, it suits everyone. Since arriving at LOSC in July 2025, Bodart has slipped down the pecking order season by season. He is now third choice behind Berke Ozer and new arrival Orlando Gill.

In other words, there was no real path to minutes. At 28, a keeper stuck on the bench loses far more than an outfield player in the same spot: rhythm, sharpness, match confidence. Still according to L’Equipe, LOSC are expected to release him from the final 10 months of his contract to smooth the way out.

A sensible gamble on both sides

Le Havre get a keeper developed at Standard Liege, used to the top level in Belgium and already with Ligue 1 experience. Bodart, meanwhile, gets the chance to play every weekend again, which was no longer on the table in the north.

The medical still has to be completed. Until the Normandy club makes it official, nothing is done. But both sides are moving in the same direction, and HAC’s sporting urgency does not leave much room for hesitation.
