Five minutes in, and it was already over
Seventy metres. That was the ground Fabio Silva covered after Serhou Guirassy slipped a pass in behind the Paderborn defence. Five minutes gone, 1-0, and the newcomers had already got the message about how their afternoon was going to go.
Guirassy thought he had scored twice. VAR chalked off both goals for offside. Frustrating, sure, but it did not matter in the end: Felix Nmecha settled it late on. First on 80 minutes, after bamboozling a defender with a shot feint, then again on 89 minutes. 3-0, and three wins from three for Borussia.

Freiburg go one better and go top
The problem for Dortmund is that somebody else is moving at the same pace.
Freiburg hammered Mönchengladbach 5-0. Engelhardt scored twice, Matanovic did the same, and Eggestein added the fifth on 86 minutes. On goal difference, the Baden-Wurttemberg club are temporarily top of the table ahead of Borussia.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, were held up again by Augsburg. Kofane had given them the lead on 18 minutes, but Michael Gregoritsch turned the game around in five minutes between 50 and 55, and Patrik Schick had to nick a leveller on 89 minutes to rescue a point. Augsburg remain the side nobody wants to run into.
The rest of the round
Frankfurt won 3-1 at Mainz, with a brace from Uzun either side of a Burkardt goal just before the break. Hoffenheim beat Stuttgart 2-1, with Adam Hlozek scoring both of their goals.
Three games in, and the table already tells a story: Dortmund are on a run, but they are not running the show. Freiburg are ahead. Dortmund will just have to deal with it.
