Eight runs up, then nothing
The Mets were up 8-0 in the third inning in Miami on Tuesday night. They won 15-14. In between, just about everything went wrong.
The Marlins scored three runs in the fourth, then five in the sixth to tie it up. New York hit back with six in the seventh, including a three-run homer from Francisco Lindor and a run-scoring single from Christopher Morel. Miami then grabbed six of the final seven runs of the night.
Tobias Myers finished it off by getting the last two outs. His second save of the season.
Morel went 3 for 4 with three RBIs against his former team. For Miami, Joe Mack went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs, while Jakob Marsee finished 4 for 5 with three RBIs. The Marlins have now lost six of their last seven.
New York have won four straight. Since selling at the trade deadline, the Mets are 21-12.

The Dodgers are rolling
Los Angeles hammered Cincinnati 14-1 and stretched their winning streak to seven, their best run of the season. Mookie Betts launched a two-run homer early. Yoshinobu Yamamoto struck out 10 across seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits.
And they did it without Shohei Ohtani (knee, biceps) or Freddie Freeman (knee), both still out of the lineup. Elly De La Cruz homered for a fifth straight game, but the Reds are 0-3 on a six-game road trip.
In Milwaukee, the Brewers swept the Cubs 8-6 and now lead the National League Central by 10 games. Jackson Chourio, Christian Yelich and William Contreras all homered in the first two innings.
Schwarber leads the way, Lombard makes history
Kyle Schwarber smashed a grand slam, his 44th homer of the season and the best total in the majors. Philadelphia beat Houston 11-7 after falling behind 4-0.
In New York, rookie George Lombard Jr. also went deep with a grand slam in the third inning against Colorado. At 21 years and 99 days old, he became the second-youngest Yankees player to do it, behind Mickey Mantle. It was also the club’s first grand slam of the season.
Elsewhere, Bobby Witt Jr. spared Kansas City from a sweep with a three-run homer in a 5-2 win over Arizona, Jackson Merrill drove in six with two homers and a triple for San Diego in a 9-2 win over Washington, and Baltimore put up eight runs in one inning to beat Cleveland 9-5.
