Then he found something. He finished 17 of 30 for 170 yards and a touchdown. Texas got the ball at its own 15 with 2:26 on the clock and a chance to tie or win it. Fourth down, the throw to Jack Endries fell two yards short. 1:27 left. Ohio State ran out the rest.

Texas is home. The Longhorns are ranked No. 5, the Buckeyes No. 1.
Manning shows up carrying more than he was a year ago. Last Saturday against Texas State he threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns, tying his career high. That one finished 59-7.
“Not many good memories from a year ago,” he said. “I hope to have a good game this year.”
Two in a row to the same opponent
The head-to-head does Texas no favors. Ohio State has taken the last two, including a 28-14 win in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the end of the 2024 season.
Quarterback Julian Sayin and receiver Jeremiah Smith are the problem on the other side. Two of the most-watched players in the country.
“You don’t get a second shot at a team after a painful loss every day,” Manning said. “We’re all looking forward to it. I think we’ve all grown, mentally and physically.”
Then: “That’s why you go to a school like Texas, to play in games like this.”
