One-oh count, two outs, ballgame
Eight innings gone. Two outs. The Dodgers trailed Washington 5-4 with two men on when Mookie Betts stepped in.
Will Dion went fastball on 1-0. Betts sent it into the left-field seats. 7-5 Los Angeles, and that was that.
The three-run shot was his 18th of the year. Four RBIs on the night at Dodger Stadium.

A game and a half back of Milwaukee
Los Angeles moved to 86-57 with the win. Milwaukee still own the best record in baseball, but the gap is down to a game and a half.
Four in a row for the Dodgers now. They swept the season series with Washington 6-0.
Bobby Miller took the win in his first outing of the year, three innings of work. Edgardo Henriquez notched save number two.
Tommy Edman doubled in a run and came around to score twice. Max Muncy piled up three hits and two runs, a day after sitting out sick.
No Shohei Ohtani, though. A fourth straight game on the bench for the designated hitter, who is nursing a left knee and a right biceps. Edman has led off in his place all four times.
Four runs in the fourth, and nothing to show for it
Washington looked to have this one. The fourth inning gave them everything at once. CJ Abrams opened it by taking Justin Wrobleski deep, his 30th of the season and the first time he has reached that number in his career.
Brady House and Daylen Lile singled. Harry Ford doubled two home. Jacob Young drove in another. Five batters up, five batters on.
The Dodgers pulled level at 4-4 in the fifth off Edman’s double and back-to-back singles from Will Smith and Teoscar Hernandez. Washington nudged ahead again in the sixth when a Miller curveball caught Dylan Crews with the bases loaded.
Nationals starter Andrew Alvarez was pitching close to home. The left-hander grew up in Los Alamitos, roughly 25 miles from the ballpark. He gave up three runs over four and a third.
Washington sit 67-78 and have dropped four in a row.
