The delivery was almost the story. On Friday, minutes before kick-off against AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain used the Parc des Princes public address system to confirm that their head coach and five players had signed new deals: Lucas Beraldo, Senny Mayulu, Joao Neves, Willian Pacho and Fabian Ruiz. The club’s social accounts piled in seconds later.
The talks had been no secret. What nobody saw coming was the final word landing in between the team announcements. Luis Enrique is tied to Paris until 2030.

Twelve million to twenty
That is the figure doing the rounds. L’Equipe, which broke the story earlier this year, puts the Asturian’s salary at 20 million euros gross per season, up from 12. Two thirds more, and a seat at the very top table of coaching salaries.
By Saturday the Spanish desks had run with it. AS wrote that PSG are “throwing the house out the window”, the local way of saying a club has stopped counting, and described “a salary climbing into the clouds”. Sport said the coach “has changed the club’s recent history” and called him “the most successful manager in its history”. Cadena SER did the arithmetic: by the end of this deal the Luis Enrique era will have run seven seasons in Paris, three of them already delivering the step up the hierarchy wanted.
Nobody in Spain is calling the number crazy
That is the telling part. The Spanish press treats the rise as earned rather than reckless. El Nacional pushes it further and claims Nasser Al-Khelaifi had to “do something crazy” to stop his coach drifting back towards Barca. Take that for what it is, a newspaper theory rather than a confirmed fact.
The PSG president has never hidden his admiration for the man behind back-to-back Champions League triumphs. The extension still lands in an awkward week. Paris lost 2-1 at home to Monaco barely an hour after the announcement went out. The contract runs to 2030; the crowd works on a much shorter clock.
