Trent Grisham walked off Friday night in San Diego with tightness in his right hamstring. A day later the Yankees put a name to it: strain, 10-day injured list.
New York loses an everyday outfielder with the calendar giving them nothing. Grisham had appeared in 121 games this season.

A .211 hitter with 18 home runs
Those two numbers sit oddly next to each other. That is Grisham’s whole career in miniature: 59 RBIs to go with the 18 homers, and an average most clubs would not carry.
The pattern goes back years. Eight seasons, 887 games, one year in Milwaukee, four in San Diego, now the Bronx. A .217 average, 122 home runs, 379 RBIs. Hitters who make that little contact usually do not last this long. Grisham has, because the power is real and he can cover ground in the outfield.
He is also running ahead of himself this year. Eighteen home runs in 121 games beats his career rate of roughly 122 in 887.
Dominguez gets the door held open
New York brought Jasson Dominguez back up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 23-year-old had already played 53 games for the Yankees this season, batting .230 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.
His Bronx ledger now reads 202 games over four seasons: .243, 22 homers, 72 RBIs. The club keeps moving him between levels without ever handing him a stretch long enough to settle.
Grisham is out ten days at minimum. That is what Dominguez has to work with.
