The window shut. Roma kept shopping.
Deadline day came and went, and the Giallorossi are still working the phones. The target list now runs through players without a club, all to hand Gian Piero Gasperini one more option.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that sporting director Tony D’Amico has narrowed the search to the left side. Two names keep surfacing: Wilfried Zaha and Krepin Diatta.
Roma landed here after talks for Jamie Leweling and Malick Fofana went nowhere. That flank remains the thinnest part of the squad.

Two free hits, no fee
Zaha has been out of contract since leaving Charlotte. He is 33, and Italy nearly happened for him once already, in 2023, before that deal fell over.
The former Crystal Palace and Galatasaray winger fits what Gasperini asks of his wide players, and the Premier League mileage counts for something in Rome.
Diatta is free too, his Monaco spell finished. The Senegal international sits high on the list the Roma hierarchy is working through.
Guerreiro, and a January deal half-done
There is a third option. Raphael Guerreiro, 32, available after a season at Bayern Munich, could take the left-back slot.
Roma want the international break to bed any newcomer in fast. Serie A and the Champions League leave no gaps in the calendar to do it later.
Winter is already being mapped out as well. A meeting is set over Jayden Oosterwolde, and an agreement with the Fenerbahce defender is reportedly in place, though when he actually arrives depends on how his knee recovers from surgery.
