Two incompletions, and both came before the third quarter
Jayden Maiava finished 23 of 25. Three touchdowns, 349 yards, and all of the scoring came before halftime.
No. 14 USC ran over Fresno State 39-0 on Friday night in Los Angeles to move to 2-0. The second quarter settled it, 23 points arriving from both the offense and the defense. Maiava opened that stretch by hitting Trent Mosley, who had slipped loose behind a run fake and turned the throw into a 68-yard score. Mosley led all receivers with 104 yards and later caught a 9-yarder for his second.
Kayden Dixon-Wyatt added six catches for 102 yards. His 31-yard grab on fourth down kept the opening drive alive, an 82-yard, 12-play march. Waymond Jordan carried 11 times for 67.

Urlacher turns two sacks into nine points
Kennedy Urlacher got to Jayden Mandal twice. Both plays put points on the board.
On the first, with Fresno State backed up against its own goal line, Urlacher beat his blocker and drove the quarterback out of the end zone. Safety.
The second knocked the ball loose. Jordan cashed it in from two yards out with the half winding down, and USC went to the locker room up 30. Alex Graham produced a second safety in the third quarter, and Deshonne Redeaux scored from five yards out in the fourth.
116 yards allowed, and 60 of them were garbage time
Gary Patterson’s defense gave up 116 yards across the whole night. Most of that came on the last possession, which died on a fourth-down stop in the red zone.
That stand protected USC’s first shutout since a 48-0 win over Utah State in September 2024. The Bulldogs got into scoring range once, in the first quarter, and Prophet Brown ended it with an interception.
Mandal went 7 of 15 for 77 yards and was sacked five times. Two safeties in a single game says the rest.
