Two turnovers in the first quarter set the tone
Idaho lost the ball on their opening two drives. Trey Reynolds intercepted Joshua Wood at the Idaho 31. Rabbit Evans recovered a Wood fumble at the Idaho 12. No. 21 Utah converted both and never gave the lead back, winning 66-14 in Salt Lake City overnight.
Devon Dampier opened the scoring with a nine-yard pass to Wayshawn Parker. Dillon Curtis added a 24-yard field goal. Parker then cut through the Vandals defence for 21 yards to make it 17-0 with 1:07 still on the first-quarter clock.
Hayden Kincheloe’s three-yard run pulled Idaho back to within ten. Dampier answered with a seven-yard touchdown to Braden Pegan, then found Parker again from three yards with 32 seconds left in the half. Utah led 31-7 at the interval.

364 rushing yards at 7.4 a carry
Utah ran for 364 yards and finished with 633 in total. The Utes had the second-best rushing offence in the Football Bowl Subdivision last season and picked up where that left off, averaging 7.4 yards every time they handed the ball off.
Dampier completed 13 of 18 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns, adding 31 yards on six carries. Parker carried 12 times for 71 yards and a score and caught two more. Pegan, making his Utah debut, took four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown, then ran in a 12-yard score on the opening drive of the second half.
Nothing worked for the Vandals
Idaho managed 95 yards of total offence before halftime. Wood finished 9 of 27 for 111 yards with the interception. The Vandals fall to 0-2.
Utah and Idaho have now played 29 times. The 66 points are the most either team has scored in any of those meetings, which tells you as much about the gap between the programmes in 2026 as about anything that happened on Thursday night. The Utes open at 1-0 with the schedule still ahead of them.
