In a five-setter in a packed stadium, though, the first half hour tends to decide the mood.
The match is second on the day session schedule at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Court time is set for no earlier than 7:00 p.m. Paris time. If the opener drags, everything behind it slides back. American sessions wait for nobody.

The TV question needs no agonising. Eurosport carries the tournament from first round to final, and a centre-court night session with Alcaraz on it is exactly the kind of match that lands on Eurosport 1. Pictures start well before the players do, from 5:00 p.m. with the opening of the session.
