MathODDS predictions for this season!

Polished crystal balls, stripped-back data and sharp arguments: the MathODDS team serves up its blunt verdict on Europe’s biggest leagues. Title races, European spots and relegation scraps – here are our picks!

🇫🇷 Ligue 1: Paris still rules, Marseille still walks into trouble

Top of the table: No real shock at the top of France. Paris Saint-Germain are rolling on, keeping their crown without breaking sweat thanks to the depth in their squad. Even with a slow start to the season (2 draws in 2 matches), there is little to worry about for Luis Enrique and his team. Behind the champions, Monaco look a solid runner-up, built on welcome consistency.

Lille finish off the podium and seal direct entry into the Champions League, while Lyon lock down fourth to grab the qualifying rounds. Marseille, though, are the big letdown. Sapped by chronic inconsistency and too many defensive blackouts, OM drift into mid-table, stuck with a bland 7th or 8th place and miles from their European ambitions.

Bottom of the table: The verdict is harsh and final for the strugglers. AJ Auxerre and Le Mans pay dearly for lacking a cutting edge against the heavyweights and drop straight down. Troyes just about saves its skin at the death by landing the play-off spot, where survival will come down to one high-pressure showdown.

🇪🇸 La Liga: Catalan glory and the strain on the promoted sides

Top of the table: Barcelona’s slick team play gets them over the line after a fierce title fight. Real Madrid hang in there right to the end but finish second, a few points behind, while Atletico Madrid stick to type and lock down third with no real threat to their place.

Bottom of the table: The step up proves too steep for the relegation zone. Elche, Racing Santander and Osasuna do not have the physical power or the goal threat to cope over a full season. Their fate is sealed early, with all three going straight down to Segunda.

2eme Real Madrid Qualification C1
3eme Atl. Madrid Qualification C1

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Premier League: City’s steamroller keeps rolling

Top of the table: Manchester City keep doing what they do and land the Premier League title again. Arsenal emerge as the strongest challengers but have to settle for second. Behind that pair, Chelsea back up their return to form with third, just ahead of Liverpool, who scrap their way to the final Champions League place.

Bottom of the table: The financial and tactical gap proves too much for the outsiders. Coventry, Leeds and Ipswich fold under the pace and pressure of the English top flight. Unable to put together any sort of run, all three go down straight to the Championship.

1 – – er Manchester City English champions

🇮🇹 Serie A : The Old Lady’s revival

Top of the table: Juventus are back on top in Italy after a superb run built on a rock-solid defence. Inter Milan pushed them all the way, but had to settle for second. AS Roma, meanwhile, capped a strong campaign by finishing third and booking a return to the Champions League.

Bottom of the table: The survival scrap ends in misery for Frosinone, Genoa and Lecce. Short on ideas when it mattered and regularly caught out by quicker attacks, all three are heading down to Serie B.

🇩🇪 Bundesliga : Bayern’s rule and Schalke’s trap

Top of the table: Bayern Munich reclaim control in Germany in style, powered by an attack nobody could live with. Borussia Dortmund finish second after a solid run, though it was never enough to threaten the leaders. RB Leipzig complete the podium and grab their European spot.

Bottom of the table: Life in the top flight proves brutal for Paderborn and Elversberg, who can’t keep pace and go straight back down. The pressure is still building on Schalke 04, stuck in 16th and facing the playoff knife edge to avoid another sporting disaster.

What are the bookmakers saying?

In Ligue 1, there is no real suspense at the top: PSG look like a near-certain champion. Behind them, though, the race for the podium should be nasty, and despite a shaky start over the first two rounds, Marseille remain the clear No. 1 favourite for a top-three finish, followed by Monaco, Lens, Lille and Lyon.
