A night-session clash booked for Arthur Ashe Stadium
Carlos Alcaraz is back on court on Wednesday for the second round of the US Open, taking on Portugal’s Jaime Faria in the night of Wednesday 2 into Thursday 3 September in France. The match has been slotted into the second match of the evening session at Arthur Ashe Stadium, which officially gets underway at 1am, French time, with Aryna Sabalenka against Polina Iatcenko. The pair will then come on around 2.30am.
The world No 3 heads into this one after making light work of his return to singles: four months on from his wrist injury, Alcaraz beat Roman Safiullin 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in round one without any major physical issues. The defending champion and two-time winner in New York (2022, 2025), the Spaniard starts as a clear favourite for this second-round match.
