A 30th overall pick, now available for the price of a fourth-liner. The Rangers have agreed terms with winger Eeli Tolvanen on a one-year deal, according to multiple North American reports. PuckPedia has it at $1.5 million.
No official announcement yet. The deal is done, though.

36 points in Seattle, and a minus-18 to go with them
Tolvanen turns up at 27 off a strange year with the Kraken. Twelve goals, 36 points in 78 games, minus-18.
Those numbers pull in two directions. Twelve goals is his weakest output since 2021-22 in Nashville. Yet 36 points is the second-best total he has ever posted, because the assists came in bunches while the shooting dried up.
Eight NHL seasons, 423 games, 92 goals and 98 assists, minus-37 overall.
Nashville drafted him 30th in 2017 and kept him four and a half years before Seattle grabbed him off waivers in December 2022. The hype was louder back then.
New York keeps tearing down and rebuilding the forward group
This roster barely resembles last year’s. In late June the Rangers landed Pavel Dorofeyev from Vegas for two first-round picks and a third. On July 1, Vincent Trocheck went to Utah Mammoth, with defenceman Sean Durzi, forward Cole Beaudoin and two third-rounders coming back the other way.
Artemi Panarin had already gone to Los Angeles last season. Tolvanen is the cheap end of the rebuild, one season, low money, no risk if it fails.
