Rumfield swings Colorado clear
The Colorado Rockies won at home overnight for the first time in a month, beating the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 at Coors Field and ending a franchise-record run of 10 straight defeats in Denver.
TJ Rumfield broke the game open in the seventh. Mickey Moniak reached on a fielding error by second baseman Jackson Holliday, and one out later Rumfield drove a two-run homer into the Colorado bullpen off Luis De Leon. It was his 14th of the season and it put the Rockies ahead 4-2.
Jaden Hill worked an inning of relief for the win. Jordan Romano struck out two in a clean ninth for his 14th save.

Two-out damage in the third
Colorado had opened the scoring with two outs in the third against Kyle Bradish. Adael Amador hit his second homer of the year, Zac Veen tripled off the top of the right-field wall, and Jake McCarthy singled up the middle to bring him home. Bradish gave up two runs on six hits across five innings.
Baltimore answered in the fourth. Carlos Narvaez singled to lead off and moved to third on a one-out hit by Pete Alonso. Gunnar Henderson then hit a sharp grounder to first, where Rumfield fielded it, touched the bag and ran Alonso down between second and third. Narvaez crossed the plate before the tag landed.
The Orioles loaded the bases with two outs in the fifth and chased starter Gabriel Hughes, who allowed one run on four hits in 4 2/3 innings. Brennan Bernardino came in and got Henderson to pop out.
Holliday made up for his error with the bat. He tied the game at 2-2 with a two-out solo shot to right in the seventh, his seventh of the season, and finished with three hits.
What it changes
Colorado moved to 53-86 and snapped a five-game losing run overall. The last time the Rockies won at Coors Field was 2 August, an 8-1 result against Kansas City. They are still on course to lose 100 games for a fourth consecutive season.
Baltimore fell to 69-70 and saw a four-game winning streak stop. The Orioles now sit a game and a half behind Cleveland for the last American League wild-card place with the schedule shrinking.
