Three English clubs, one winner
It was decided on Monday night.
Coventry made the first move. West Ham followed. Leeds ended up landing the prize. Melvin Bard, 25, OGC Nice’s left-back, will join the Peacocks.
The deal is clear enough. A paid loan worth 1 million euros, with a 5 million euro option to buy and no special conditions attached. L’Equipe broke the story, and Foot Mercato backed it up.

His first move abroad
Bard had never left France. He came through at Lyon, broke into the first team there, then settled at Nice in 2021. At 25, he is heading straight into the Premier League, with no stepping stone in between.
Leeds is no soft landing. The club knows all about scrap-filled seasons, and left-back is a position that gets exposed fast there. That buy option without any catch says plenty: the English already know exactly what they want to do with him.
Nice emptying out late in the window
Le Gym have lost another starter. The club has also reached an agreement with Al-Ittihad for Hicham Boudaoui and let Kojo Peprah Oppong leave for Fenerbahce. In the other direction, Mohamed Amoura has arrived.
