Rome offer on the table
Mauro Icardi is a free agent. The Argentine striker is out of contract and weighing up his options. Sky Italia reported on Tuesday that Lazio have made their move with a deal running until 2028.
Nothing has been signed. The player is taking his time and has yet to make up his mind. Several clubs are sniffing around, but a return to Italy is said to be the front-runner according to the Italian broadcaster.

His agent is not hiding it
Letterio Pino, the player’s agent, has publicly backed up the Rome links. “Lazio? There has been, and still is, strong interest. It’s a fantastic city, with an incredible fan base. It’s an option we’re considering,” he said.
Those close to him insist on one thing. Icardi is not looking at the money first. He wants a life plan and an environment that suits him before he checks the pay packet.
Seven years away from Serie A
Icardi has not played in Serie A since 2019. He came through at Sampdoria, made his name at Inter Milan, where he wore the captain’s armband and finished as the league’s top scorer twice. PSG and then Galatasaray followed.
Lazio, meanwhile, are after a proven finisher. The deal is still alive and could be wrapped up after the window closes, with free-agent status allowing him to sign outside transfer deadlines.
