He already knows his manager

The Toulouse FC manager has just brought in a striker he has already helped develop. That was in Denmark, at AC Horsens. Together, they won the second division title and promotion to the top flight. Casper Tengstedt finished as the division’s top scorer.
Four years later, they are back together in the south-west. TFC confirmed the arrival of the 26-year-old Dane late in the day, from Feyenoord Rotterdam. He will wear number 20.

A career that has covered a lot of ground
Denmark. Norway. Portugal. Italy. The Netherlands. And now France.
At 26, Tengstedt has already changed leagues five times. After a spell at FC Midtjylland, he has built a career out of short stops and very different settings. You can read that as a warning sign. Or you can read it as the mark of a player who has never needed six months to settle in a new dressing room.
He arrives with a youth international record behind him. U17, U19, U21 with Denmark. Picked regularly, but never able to force his way into the senior side.
Sixth signing, and the market is closing fast
Tengstedt becomes Toulouse’s sixth signing of the summer. The club kept moving right to the end: earlier in the day, TFC had already secured the loan of Mathis Amougou from Strasbourg.
In the dressing room, the Dane will meet fellow countrymen, with Rasmus Nicolaisen at the front of the queue. That should shorten the settling-in period even more.
The real question remains. Toulouse wanted a finisher. Askou has gone for a player whose strengths and limits he knows inside out, without needing scouting reports. In a market where clubs often buy off the back of highlight clips, that’s a luxury.
