Juve have not let it go
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is once again in Juventus Turin’s sights. According to Sport Mediaset, the Italian club is preparing one final push for the Marseille midfielder in the closing hours of the window. The report surfaced this morning.
Juventus have tracked the player for months. They already made their move in January, and Marseille shut the door without a second thought. Back then, Hojbjerg was running the show in the middle and the sporting department did not want to touch it.
Things have changed. Roberto De Zerbi, Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia have all left the club since. The new hierarchy, led by Greg Lorenzi and Bruno Genesio, is taking a different approach.

500,000 euros a month, and a wage bill that will not budge
Hojbjerg earns 500,000 euros a month. That is the biggest wage in the Marseille squad, a figure inherited from the days when the club dipped into Frank McCourt’s finances without much restraint. Those days are gone.
OM want to trim the wage bill before the window shuts. The target has not been met. The 31-year-old Dane leaving would go a long way towards fixing it on his own.
He has already turned down a Newcastle offer. That decision irritated Marseille’s bosses. Hojbjerg would rather head to Italy, a league that has been chasing him for months.
A financial deal still to be built
Juventus do not have much room to manoeuvre either. The club is working on a loan with an obligation to buy, a structure that would spread the cost across two seasons.
Turin also have to bring in Pape Matar Sarr from Tottenham. That move does not close the book on the midfield rebuild. The Italians’ main target is still Hojbjerg.
The question now is whether Marseille’s accountants sign off. Time is running out on both sides.
