Palace said no, so Forest changed lane
Nottingham Forest have spent the summer looking for a goalkeeper and are down to their last few hours to find one. Marca reported on Monday morning that Giorgi Mamardashvili has become one of the club’s leading targets before the window shuts.
The Georgia international belongs to Liverpool, where he has spent this season sitting behind Alisson.
Dean Henderson was the original plan. Crystal Palace rejected Forest’s most recent approach for him outright, according to the same Spanish report, and the search moved on from there.

Hours, not days
It is 31 August. Deadline day. Forest still do not have the number one they went looking for in June.
Prising a keeper of that standing away this late is a difficult ask. Liverpool would need a replacement of their own inside a single afternoon, with the season already three matchdays old, and that alone tends to end conversations quickly.
Nothing is agreed. Marca describes interest and a priority, not terms. No figure has surfaced, and neither club has commented publicly.
Where it stands
A deadline-day pursuit, sourced to Spain, for a goalkeeper who rarely plays and would not come cheap. Whether Forest actually put an offer on the table should become clear before the evening is out.
