Two down at De Kuip
Feyenoord had 72 per cent of the ball and eleven shots after 40 minutes this afternoon. They also had nothing on the scoreboard except a deficit.
ADO Den Haag arrived in Rotterdam without a point from three matches and left with one. Oussama Targhalline gave the ball away cheaply in the 12th minute, the visitors broke at speed and Nigel Thomas finished for 0-1. Thomas was born in Rotterdam. It was his first goal of the season.

Ueda and Hadj Moussa drag it back
Ayase Ueda headed wide, had a goal chalked off for offside and was denied one-on-one by Kilian Nikiema just before the half hour. Gjivai Zechiel forced another save. Nothing went in.
Van Bronckhorst sent on Sem Steijn for Gaoussou Diarra at the break, and the substitute struck the post from a Ueda pass within minutes of the restart. Then it got worse. Sekou Sylla drilled a low finish into the corner from the edge of the area in the 53rd minute after a slick ADO move, with Tjark Ernst beaten at his near post. Sylla, born in Schiedam and capped by Guinea, had never scored in the Eredivisie before.
Ueda pulled one back in the 62nd from close range. Shaqueel van Persie came on. Illaijh de Ruijter should have made it 1-3 but his control deserted him at the key moment. Anis Hadj Moussa hit the post, then cut in from the right in the 72nd minute and curled past Nikiema for 2-2. Feyenoord chased a winner for the last quarter of an hour and never looked like finding one.
Ueda scores while Lille wait
The Japan striker’s afternoon carries an extra layer. Lille have agreed personal terms with Ueda according to Foot Mercato, though nothing has been settled between the clubs and Feyenoord are under no obligation to sell before the window shuts. He started, he scored, he supplied the pass that hit the post, and Rotterdam still needs him.
Van Bronckhorst has the harder problem. Dropping two points at home to the division’s bottom side, from two goals down, is the kind of afternoon that follows a team around. Feyenoord travel to NEC Nijmegen next Saturday. ADO host Fortuna Sittard the day after, with the first point of their season banked.
