Sixteen points, gone in eight minutes
Hawaii had 122 yards of offence through three quarters. Then the Rainbow Warriors scored 20 points and took the lead.
Stanford were up 23-7 in the fourth quarter at home on Saturday night, comfortable, and Tavita Pritchard’s first game as head coach looked settled. Sitani Mikaele finished a 16-play, 80-yard drive from the 5. Tama Uiliata converted the two-point try on a double reverse with 12:43 left. Three minutes later Micah Alejado found Uiliata from 11 yards. The second conversion failed when Darrius Davis stopped Uiliata short of the line.
Then DeVon Rice caught a short pass at the 25, cut right and ran the sideline for 29 yards. Hawaii led 27-23 with 4:06 on the clock.

Ford finishes what he started
Micah Ford had already scored twice. He carried 25 times for 99 yards, and the third of those touchdowns came from the 2 with 1:41 remaining, after Davis Warren moved Stanford 62 yards in seven plays.
Twenty-nine seconds later the game was over. Zach Rowell forced Alejado to fumble, Tevarua Tafiti picked the ball up and went 31 yards. It was the only turnover of the night. Final score 37-27.
Warren’s numbers deserve a second look. The Michigan transfer threw for 310 yards on 22-of-34 passing, a career high, in his first competitive game in almost 20 months. He tore his right ACL in the 2024 ReliaQuest Bowl. He also found Atticus Joseph for a 6-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
The two points nobody noticed
Early in the third quarter Gehrig Heil stood in his own end zone to punt. Charlie Eckhardt broke through clean and blocked the ball with his right hand. It bounced out the back for a safety and a 16-7 Stanford lead. Two points that looked like a footnote until the fourth quarter turned.
Alejado finished 30 of 50 for 269 yards and two scores. Rice scored twice, once on a 3-yard jet sweep in the second quarter and once through the air. Hawaii found their offence with 13 minutes left and gave the ball away with 71 seconds to go.
