Twenty-two batters, one mistake
Logan Henderson needed 22 batters to get through seven innings. One of them did any damage. Danny Jansen turned on a pitch with two outs in the third and put it over the wall, and that was the whole of the Texas Rangers offence against the Milwaukee rookie overnight. The Brewers won 6-1.
Henderson struck out seven and improved to 9-2. He also tied his major league high for innings in a start, which says something about how carefully Milwaukee has handled a 24-year-old right-hander who keeps taking the ball and keeps giving them nothing to worry about. Since the All-Star break he is 6-1 with a 1.88 ERA.
The team with the best record in baseball has spent the second half leaning on an arm that was not supposed to carry this much weight this soon.

Milwaukee handed him a lead immediately
Brice Turang opened the bottom of the first with a bunt single. Cody Bradford threw it away, Turang took second, moved to third on Jackson Chourio’s deep flyout to right and scored on a William Contreras groundout. Christian Yelich doubled home Jake Bauers two batters later. Two runs, and barely a ball struck hard.
Contreras finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Bauers reached base four times, going 2-for-2 with three walks and scoring twice. Yelich went 3-for-5 for his sixth three-hit game of the season. Milwaukee collected 14 hits in all.
Bradford (0-3) was making his fifth start since returning from the left elbow injury he picked up in spring training in 2025. He threw 100 pitches, 19 more than in any other outing this year, and allowed three runs on nine hits and two walks across 5 2/3 innings without recording a strikeout.
A muddle in the sixth, then the bullpen shut the door
The sixth produced the odd moment of the night. Skip Schumaker walked out to the mound before David Hamilton’s at-bat and Tyler Alexander left the Texas bullpen believing he was being called in. He was not, and had to wait a batter. Hamilton then singled to centre and Garrett Mitchell scored from second.
Aaron Ashby gave up a single and a walk in the eighth before Jansen grounded to Turang to end the inning. DL Hall struck out the side in a perfect ninth.
Milwaukee have now won three in a row. Texas have lost three in a row.
