Personal terms nearly sorted
Stefan Bajcetic is edging back towards the club that trained him. According to Fabrizio Romano, Celta Vigo are closing in on an agreement over personal terms with the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder. Liverpool, for their part, are understood to be open to a permanent exit.
The deal still needs tidying up. The Galician club want the Reds to release the player from the final year of his contract, which would allow them to bring him in without paying a transfer fee. Liverpool could be willing to approve that if they secure a sell-on percentage in return.

Left Vigo at 16 for 250,000 euros
Bajcetic left Galicia in December 2020. He was 16. Liverpool paid 250,000 euros to sign him, a tiny sum for a player who would go on to show his value two years later.
The 2022-2023 season was his peak. Jürgen Klopp handed him 19 appearances in all competitions and a spot in the rotation in a midfield that was already packed with options. At the time, the Spaniard was one of the club’s brightest prospects.
Two years without a game at Anfield
Injuries have wrecked his momentum. Bajcetic has not played a single minute for Liverpool since May 2024. Two full years without an appearance in a Reds shirt.
The club tried to get him back on track with loans. First Red Bull Salzburg, then Las Palmas in 2024-2025. Neither spell was enough to win him a place in Arne Slot’s squad on his return.
A move back to Celta, nearly six years after he left, would give him familiar surroundings and minutes on the pitch. At 21, he’s still got plenty of time.
