A statement that makes no apology
FC Barcelona’s Monday statement condemned what the club calls excessive force during the detention, and offered support to the supporter involved and his family.
It went further than that. Barca also raised the confiscation of flags from Blaugrana fans by police, insisting the symbol is perfectly legal and that flying it falls under free expression. The club wants answers on how the whole thing unfolded.
The next move could end up in court
Then the line that carries real weight. Barcelona reserve the right to take whatever steps are needed to defend the “integrity, rights and freedom of expression” of their members and supporters.
Which is to say this may not be over. A club that puts that in black and white is rarely just filling space. Whether the authorities answer back, and how sharply, is the part still to come.
