Ran Binyamin scores a late winner as FC Dallas beat Real Salt Lake 4-3

Football: Binyamin sinks Real Salt Lake in the 90th

A substitute ends a seven-goal night

Ran Binyamin came off the bench at half-time and struck from outside the box in the 90th minute overnight, driving the ball into the right corner to give FC Dallas a 4-3 win at Real Salt Lake in Sandy, Utah. It was his first MLS goal.

The Toros move to 9-5-6 and 33 points. They have now won back-to-back road games and sit at 2-1-2 since the World Cup break, a stretch that has quietly turned them into one of the more awkward visitors in the Western Conference.

Real Salt Lake drop to 8-7-4 and 28 points. They remain winless in league play since the break, losing for the third time in five matches with two draws mixed in. Leading a game and losing it is a new item on the list of problems.

Dallas raced two clear, then invited them back

The opening 22 minutes belonged entirely to the visitors. Joaquin Valiente worked his way to the edge of the box in the 17th minute, collected a Ramiro Benetti pass that ricocheted off a defender and buried it past Rafael Cabral. Three minutes later Petar Musa climbed above a defender at the far post to head in a curling Valiente delivery, the move having started with Bernard Kamungo.

Sergi Solans pulled one back in the 38th, hammering a shot through traffic from a Diego Luna free kick that gave Jonathan Sirois no chance. Musa answered before the interval, turning on another Valiente pass and finding the bottom-right corner for his 16th of the season, which keeps him top of the MLS scoring charts.

Salt Lake came out of the tunnel with the game half won. Morgan Guilavogui finished a Noel Caliskan pass in the 50th, Luna levelled it in the 64th after Saba Lobjanidze fed him on the edge, and for 26 minutes the home side looked like the team that would take all three points.

The margin RSL keep missing

Luna finished the night with two assists and a goal. Guilavogui had a goal and an assist. Both performances went into the losing column because a substitute who had not scored in the league before picked his moment better.

Dallas travel home with six points from two trips. Salt Lake stay stuck on a run that is starting to look like a habit.
