Moyes had a chance to knock it down. He didn’t
Everton are still circling Jack Grealish. With the window nearly shut, the Merseyside club are weighing up another move for the England international, according to the Times. Nothing is signed. Nothing is close, on the evidence so far.
The question came at Moyes on Thursday and he gave it the standard treatment. “No, not at the moment. It is not for me to talk about. Jack is a Manchester City player and I don’t think it is right to discuss players who belong to other clubs.”
What he would talk about was the state of his squad. “We still need a lot of players to strengthen the squad. I’d like to do more if possible.” The board has heard him.

He already knows the dressing room
Grealish spent all of 2025-26 on loan at Goodison before going back to Manchester City in the summer. He also featured in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal, which tells you Guardiola has not written him off entirely.
He is 30 and still under contract at the Etihad, so a second loan is the only version of this that works on Everton’s books. City have said nothing publicly. The wages are the sticking point, as they were the first time.
Five in, and Moyes wants more
Everton have hardly been idle. Tyrique George, Merlin Rohl, Hayden Hackney, Christian Norgaard and Brennan Johnson have all arrived. Five bodies through the door, and the manager is still asking. Days left to get it done.
The club need this season to confirm last one. Consolidating a top-half finish is the stated aim, and Grealish would give them something in the final third they currently have to manufacture. Whether City play along is another matter.
