Issue flagged at Sunderland
Dayann Methalie was supposed to seal a Premier League move this week. Instead, the Toulouse left-back has returned to France. Reports on Tuesday night said a problem was spotted during his medical in Sunderland, and the player now has to undergo further tests in Toulouse to work out exactly what is wrong.
Until those tests are done, the transfer is on hold. Neither side is willing to give a timeline.

Thirty million at stake for TFC
The deal was valued at around 30 million euros. At that level, this is no ordinary sale; it’s the kind of fee that can shape an entire financial year for a Ligue 1 club sitting in the middle of the pack. Toulouse have built their model on developing talent and cashing in, and Methalie was supposed to be the poster boy for the summer.
The timing makes the wait even more awkward. Toulouse confirmed the arrival of defender David Odogu a few hours earlier, while also pushing ahead with several other incoming deals. A recruitment drive usually runs on the money brought in by departures. No exits, no fuel.
A window closing fast
The transfer market shuts in less than two weeks. If the tests in Toulouse drag on, Sunderland will have to decide whether to wait or walk away and move on. Premier League clubs rarely show much patience when a medical goes fuzzy this late in the summer.
One key question still hangs in the air: what exactly is the issue? Neither Toulouse nor Sunderland has said what was picked up in England.
