Weeks of shopping, still no goalkeeper
Around 10 million euros. That was the value of the package Marseille put to Toulouse for Guillaume Restes, a paid loan with an option to buy, and Toulouse turned it down without much hesitation. The gap between the two valuations is not small.
Restes remains the preferred name. He is also, for now, going nowhere.
Another route closed this week. Lucas Perri, previously at Lyon and Leeds United, landed in Italy for a medical with Torino and is expected to sign once that clears. Marseille tried to force their way back into that one late. It went nowhere.

Turin again, different club
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported on Tuesday that Marseille and Juventus are talking about Michele Di Gregorio.
The signal came before the story did. Di Gregorio was left out of the fixture at the Allianz Stadium between the Juventus first team and the Next Gen side. Clubs rarely spell things out more plainly than that.
Juventus are also closing in on Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham. Sign one keeper, free up another.
He wants out of Italy
Di Gregorio is 29. Monza, his old club, is available to him as a fallback, but a move abroad is what he is after if he leaves at all.
For Marseille that solves the hardest part of any late-window deal. A willing player. What remains is an agreement with Juventus, and Juventus have never made that part simple for anyone.
The season does not pause while a sporting director makes phone calls. Marseille need a first-choice keeper, and the calendar is already moving.
