A Dutch metronome for the BVB
Borussia Dortmund confirmed the signing of Joey Veerman on Tuesday. The Dutch midfielder leaves PSV Eindhoven and has signed through 30 June 2031. He will wear No. 25. The fee is understood to be a little above 20 million euros.
“Borussia Dortmund are strengthening their midfield with the immediate arrival of Joey Veerman from PSV Eindhoven,” the Ruhr club said in a statement. The player is 27. That is the age when a midfielder of his type is supposed to be hitting his peak, with several Champions League seasons already under his belt.

Numbers that do the talking
His last season in Eindhoven delivered 8 goals and 15 assists in 41 appearances in all competitions. Twenty-three direct goal contributions from midfield over a season: not many Bundesliga players in that position get anywhere near that mark.
That is exactly the sort of profile Dortmund were after. A player who can break lines through the middle, control the pace and risk the killer pass. Until now, the BVB have relied on more physical than creative types in the engine room.
A window moving fast
Veerman is not arriving alone. On Monday, the club had already confirmed Giannis Konstantelias, the young Greek attacking midfielder, for 32 million euros. In two days, Dortmund have committed more than 50 million euros to their midfield alone.
The hierarchy are not done yet. Several forwards remain targets before the window shuts, and the club are still looking across the pitch, according to Foot Mercato. The message is clear: after a season without silverware, Dortmund want the resources to go the distance with Bayern Munich over a full campaign, not just for a few weeks.
