The wing-back nobody was watching a year ago
Basel, Schalke 04, PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht have all made enquiries about the same 24-year-old. A year ago he was a Ligue 2 player at Le Mans. Lucas Calodat then had a season good enough to change that, and good enough to drag the Sarthe club up into Ligue 1 with him.
He came through the academy at Saint-Etienne. Nothing about his rise has been loud. What clubs like is the profile: a modern left-sided defender who wants the ball high up the pitch and can cover his flank for ninety minutes without the engine dropping off. Cheap, young, and already proven at a level above where he started.

Le Mans changed their minds
Two weeks ago the answer was no. It is not anymore. Le Mans have signed several players this summer, Djibril Sidibe among them, and now have cover in that position. Selling Calodat would fund the rest of the window.
Foot Mercato reports that the four clubs listed above have already checked on his situation, each of them looking for something on the left of defence. A handful of Ligue 1 sides are watching too. None of them has put anything formal on the table.
September 1 is the problem
Miss that date and Le Mans keep a good player and no money. Four interested clubs in a fortnight is the kind of situation that moves a price quickly, though nobody has put a number in public yet. The next few days will settle it.
