A standoff that has gone public
Viktor Tsygankov has taken to Instagram. The Ukrainian winger posted internal WhatsApp exchanges with his club this morning. An ominous line came first: “one day, I will speak…” Then came the screenshots.
The background is no mystery. Tsygankov wants out. He had already refused to play on La Liga’s opening weekend against Leganes. The Spanish press puts Girona’s asking price at around 10 million euros. After weeks of tension, the row has spilled into the open.

The clause meant to keep him quiet
The documents he released show the club reminding him of his obligations around speaking publicly. Any interview or media comment has to be cleared in advance. Girona warned him that breaking that rule could be treated as a breach of contract and trigger disciplinary action.
There is a sting in that detail. By publishing the clause designed to silence him, the Ukraine international turned the club’s own argument inside out. Marca reported the story this morning.
Ten million euros, and a shrinking window
Girona have started the campaign without one of their most experienced wide players. Every day without a resolution makes the dressing room a little more awkward. Whether anyone actually pays the 10 million before the window shuts is the only question that matters now, and nobody in Catalonia sounds especially confident.
