Premier League: Galatasaray line up 50 million euro move for Bruno Fernandes

A 50 million euro bid

Galatasaray are ready to make their move. The Turkish champions are lining up a push for Bruno Fernandes, the Manchester United captain. The Telegraph says the deal could be worth up to 50 million euros, add-ons included.

The structure is already taking shape. The Istanbul club would offer 35 million guaranteed, spread across three payments through to 2028. A further 15 million in bonuses would hinge on Super Lig titles, Fernandes’s individual performances and Galatasaray’s European run.

President Dursun Ozbek is said to be following the case personally.

21 million net a year, and Turkish tax law does the rest

The wages are even more eye-watering. Galatasaray are understood to have put together a four-year contract worth 21 million euros net a year, plus a 4 million signing-on fee. Turkish tax rules would do the rest: Fernandes would nearly double his current take-home pay.

The timing suits the Istanbul side. The 31-year-old midfielder is into the final year of his Old Trafford deal, with an extra season in the club’s favour as an option. His 65 million release clause expired last month.

The Portugal international has 94 caps. He has already turned down lucrative offers from elsewhere and was also on the radar in Italy this summer.

Manchester United shut the door

The Red Devils are not for moving. Michael Carrick and the hierarchy still see Fernandes as central to the project and would resist any sale. The English club are still looking for a left-back, a midfielder and perhaps another striker.

Turkey, though, is not backing off this summer. Mohamed Salah has gone to Trabzonspor, Mason Greenwood to Fenerbahce, Leandro Trossard to Besiktas. Galatasaray want their own headline act, and they are ready to test Manchester United’s resolve with an opening bid.
