Down 5-0? So what
On Sunday in Minneapolis, the Phillies looked done. Five runs down. A team that had stumbled to a 10-15 record since the All-Star Game they hosted back home.
Alec Bohm drove in four runs on his own. Bryan De La Cruz delivered the go-ahead hit in the eighth inning. 7-5 the final. The bullpen then shut the door with four scoreless frames.
“We found a way back,” interim manager Don Mattingly said. “The at-bats were good, top to bottom. As long as we stick with it, as long as we keep guys on base, we’ve got a chance to crack it open.”
It was a clean sweep of the Twins. It started Thursday with a 7-1 win in the Field of Dreams Game in Iowa. Then came 9-1. Then this 7-5 job.

Sanchez stands alone on 15 wins
On Monday, Philadelphia hosts Miami for a three-game series. On the mound: Cristopher Sanchez. The left-hander is 15-4 with a 2.54 ERA. No one else in the National League has reached 15 wins this season.
Last Tuesday against St. Louis, he allowed four hits over six scoreless innings before coming out after 89 pitches. Mattingly explained why. “I didn’t want to take him out, but when I checked in with him after the inning, he was cooked. I don’t know if it was the heat. The pitch count was fine, but that night he was done. You could see it.”
Against the Marlins, Sanchez is 3-0 with a 1.06 ERA in seven appearances, including five starts. He hasn’t faced them yet this year. And one thing matters here: closer Jhoan Duran threw 33 pitches on Sunday to escape a mess in the ninth. He’s unlikely to be available.
Miami is not arriving empty-handed
The Marlins come in from Cincinnati, where they took two of three, including a 7-1 win on Sunday. Heriberto Hernandez went deep in the eighth, and Javier Sanoja followed with a homer in the ninth.
Janson Junk gets the ball for Miami. The 30-year-old right-hander is 6-7 with a 4.41 ERA, but he’s posted a 1.93 ERA over his last four outings. Against Philadelphia, he’s still 0-2 in his career despite a 1.80 ERA in two starts. On May 4, he gave up one run in 5.1 innings. His team lost 1-0.
It’s the final series of the season between the two clubs. They’ve met 10 times, and it’s 5-5.
