A new building, and Josh Allen only needed eight throws
Orchard Park got its first look at the new Highmark Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and the Bills made sure the housewarming went the right way. Buffalo beat the Carolina Panthers 29-14. Preseason, yes. But the franchise had waited years for this building, and the scoreboard cooperated.
Allen was in and out in a handful of series. Six completions on eight attempts, 111 yards, and a 9-yard touchdown to Keon Coleman in the opening quarter.
The new stadium sits directly across from the old one. This was also Buffalo’s first outing since Sean McDermott was let go, with Joe Brady now running things on the sideline. Ian Wheeler and Frank Gore Jr. punched in fourth-quarter rushing scores to push it to 29-7.
Carolina (1-1) gave Bryce Young a short look, 3 of 5 for 18 yards. Kenny Pickett and Kyle Trask both reached the end zone, though Trask threw a pick along the way.

Chicago trailed 10-0 and won by 24
The Bears fell behind early and then ran off with it, 34-10 over Cleveland. Case Keenum was nearly perfect, 9 of 10 for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Tyson Bagent chipped in 169 through the air. Caleb Williams never took the field. Jamree Kromah had two sacks and a fumble recovery on the other side of the ball.
Deshaun Watson played his first football in a year after the Achilles injury. He went 11 of 15 for 126 yards, and every Cleveland point came before halftime. The starting job is still open, with Shedeur Sanders going 6 of 11 for 79 yards and an interception.
Minnesota takes it 13-10, then watches Jamal Adams leave on a stretcher
Carson Wentz threw the winner to Myles Price in the third quarter. Kyler Murray, in Minnesota after seven years in Arizona, played three snaps and that was that.
The result barely mattered by the end. Adams went down with a knee injury that looked bad, in his first game in Vikings colors, and left the field on a stretcher.
New York, in its first game under John Harbaugh, got a touchdown from Jaxson Dart to Malachi Fields. Jameis Winston was 8 of 9 for 89 yards.
