MLB: Christian Walker’s three-run blast sinks Seattle in the 10th

Five runs to wipe out three

Seattle thought it had the game in the bag. In the 10th inning, Victor Robles drove a ball into the left-center gap off Enyel De Los Santos and brought home automatic runner Brendan Donovan. A sacrifice fly followed. Three runs up for the Mariners, three outs from the win.

Houston answered with five. Andres Munoz, Seattle’s closer, gave up RBI singles to Isaac Paredes and Daulton Varsho. Then Christian Walker ended it, a three-run homer to left field that traveled 405 feet. His 23rd of the season. Astros 10-7.

Alvarez’s 36th leads the American League

Paredes finished with two hits and three RBIs. Yordan Alvarez launched his 36th homer, the best total in the American League. Starter Peter Lambert had done just enough, two runs on four hits across five innings, before handing the mess to a bullpen that nearly gave it all back.

Robles picked up three hits for Seattle. Dominic Canzone and Josh Naylor added two apiece, each driving in a run. George Kirby fell apart: five runs on eight hits in four and two-thirds. The right-hander never found his rhythm.

Nine straight ends in Baltimore

Baltimore stopped Tampa Bay’s nine-game winning streak 6-5, Gunnar Henderson perfect in four official at-bats. San Diego made it six in a row against Cleveland behind homers from Xander Bogaerts and Fernando Tatis Jr.

In Cincinnati, Chase Burns threw seven scoreless and improved to 14-2. One run in the whole game, an Eugenio Suarez double in the sixth. Sandy Alcantara had gone 25 innings without allowing one before that swing.
