A new left-back for Houston
Houston Dynamo have their defensive reinforcement. The club confirmed on Tuesday the signing of Marcelo Saracchi from Boca Juniors. The 28-year-old Uruguayan has put pen to paper through the 2028-29 MLS season, with club options running to 2030-31.
The need was obvious. Saracchi is a left-back, and that flank was the target. Pat Onstad, the Dynamo’s sporting president, has backed a player he sees contributing in every phase. The output supports the pitch: 12 goals and 25 assists across 272 professional matches.

A resume built for big nights
He has seen a lot of football. Spain’s La Liga, Germany’s Bundesliga, Turkey’s Super Lig, Scotland’s top flight, Argentina’s Primera. All of it. Throw in the Copa Libertadores, the Champions League, the Europa League and the 2025 Club World Cup. Six trophies sit on his record, and 11 caps for Uruguay round it off, his last appearances coming in October 2025.
Scotland wrote his most recent chapter. On loan at Celtic from August 2025, he added a goal and two assists in 27 games. Before Glasgow came Boca Juniors, joined in August 2023, where he finished with four goals and five assists in 52 outings.
What Houston expect from him
The deal speaks for itself. Four guaranteed years, options stacked on top. Houston are betting on continuity. They need a real presence down the left as the playoff push heats up. Now comes the hard part, the one that always follows a move like this: make all that European mileage count in a league Saracchi barely knows yet.
