Football: Harry Kane closing in on new Bayern deal to 2029

Kane is going nowhere

Everyone had him packing for England. Wrong read. Harry Kane wants to stay put in Munich.

The Times reports the striker sits down with Bayern this week, both sides keen to stretch his contract to 2029. He is 33 now. Bavaria suits him, and it suits his family too. Don’t expect much of a raise on the roughly 25 million euros gross he already earns each year.

Shearer’s record can wait

For months a Premier League return felt live. The reason was simple: Alan Shearer’s goal record sat within reach. That chase has slipped down his list.

Silverware drives him now. Two Bundesliga titles already sit on the shelf. What’s missing is the Champions League, and it has hardened into something close to an obsession, for the player and the club alike.

Then there are the numbers. Sixty-one goals in 51 games across all competitions last season. His current deal runs to 30 June 2027, and everything points past it. Only the signature is left.
