Football: PSG Ready to Raise Godts Bid to €55M After Ajax Rebuff

PSG back in for Godts

PSG are not walking away from Mika Godts. After a first bid of 45 million euros was turned down by Ajax earlier in the week, the Paris club is lining up another move. According to Sky Sports Italia, the next offer is expected to reach 55 million.

The Italian outlet is blunt about it: Paris will have to talk Ajax into selling, and that will not come easy. The 21-year-old Belgian winger has just wrapped a season of 17 goals and 15 assists across all competitions. On Thursday, he started against Shelbourne in Conference League qualifying.

A fit for Luis Enrique

Godts ticks plenty of boxes for the Paris coach. Direct, sharp in one-on-ones, a threat to score and to set up. The left-wing slot opened up after Yan Diomande’s switch to Real Madrid, and his arrival would also cushion the likely exit of Bradley Barcola, a priority for Liverpool.

At 55 million, the deal would rank as the fifth-biggest sale in Ajax’s history, behind Antony, Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez. The Dutch club plucked him from Genk for just 400,000 euros in 2023.

Paris pushing on several fronts

Alongside this, PSG are working the Ferran Torres angle and have officially landed Maghnes Akliouche. The Godts file, though, still hangs on Ajax’s answer. Nothing is signed, but Paris have made up their minds to pay up.
