ACL tear confirmed
Princeton Fant has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The Cowboys tight end will miss the entire season. Coach Brian Schottenheimer confirmed the diagnosis yesterday.
Fant was carted off on Monday at practice. He was driven into a teammate during a block. Surgery is set for the next two weeks.

A depth piece in Dallas
Fant is 27. He was heading into his fourth season, all of them in Dallas. His playing time has been minimal: 14 offensive snaps in his entire career, none last year. His main value came on special teams.
The team still has options at the position. Jake Ferguson remains the starter. Behind him, Luke Schoonmaker, Brevyn Spann-Ford and undrafted rookie Michael Trigg are battling for spots.
Dallas reshuffles its roster
The injury does not shake up the depth chart. It does thin the special teams group. The Cowboys move on without him for the rest of the year.
